Welcome to my website. I am an independent Personal Trainer based in Fareham, Hampshire. I have over thirty years experience in sports such as boxing, rugby, running, skiing, climbing and bodybuilding. I believe that the aim should be to develop robust health to ensure longevity. I specialise in resistance training to strengthen the bones, connective tissues and muscles of the body as well as cardiovascular endurance. Fitness training has been overly complicated and different fads and misinformation have added to the confusion. Whilst my training programmes are tailored to the individuals needs they are simple, fun and produce results. I make no apology that where appropriate the sessions are hard and will be challenging. I will work with you to achieve your specific goals. Free weights, kettlebells and bodyweight exercises are my tools of choice. Used correctly they produce better results in less time and are safer than machines.
There have been numerous attempts at defining 'fitness' over the years. The one I subscribe to is "...the successful adaptation to the stresses of one's lifestyle" I believe this means you should be able to pick up and carry your suitcase or cases at the airport, run for a bus, get out of a chair just using the power of your legs and do all the other things that life throws at you without getting exhausted or injured. To achieve this I use exercises that mimic movements that you do in everyday life.
I cater for all age groups and abilities from men wishing to gain muscle and get ripped (very lean) to ladies that wish to develop a sleek, strong functional body that happens to compliment whatever they choose to wear or just those wishing to lose weight, look better and feel fitter.
I can advise on nutrition, again the goal is health first rather than extremes that are not able to be maintained. I believe in the 80/20 rule; eat well 80% of the time and the other 20% eat what you like within reason. Whilst food should provide energy to fuel your workouts and your everyday life it also should be a source of enjoyment!
